Centinel Spine’s prodisc C Nova Makes its U.S. Surgical Debut

With the prodisc C Nova, Centinel Spine now has four cervical total disc replacement devices in U.S. clinical use.

Centinel Spine LLC is marking the first U.S. implantation of its prodisc C Nova cervical total disc replacement (TDR) product, a device approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration two years ago for 1-level indications.

prodisc C Nova is Centinel Spine’s fourth cervical TDR offering, and the third new cervical TDR product the company has released in the United States since late 2022. The prodisc C Vivo and prodisc C SK products were both made available on a limited basis in late 2022 and have been used in more than 8,000 procedures since then. Along with the originally available prodisc C cervical implant—launched in the United States in 2007—Centinel Spine claims to possess the world’s widest offering of cervical TDR solutions to address surgeon preference and individual patient anatomy.

prodisc C Nova was co-developed by spine surgeon and Pro-Spine Chairman/CEO Prof. Dr. Rudolf Bertagnoli in Straubing, Germany. First implanted in Europe in 2009, the device features tri-keel design and flat endplates for optimized implant positioning that allows surgeons to address individual patient anatomy. The low-profile keels enable a streamlined keel preparation technique and provide immediate fixation.
